Berlin - Alles neu

life No Comments »

It is a long winter… at least it feels so. It was definitely time for a holiday though. My cousin Maike lives in Berlin and went off for some days to visit her brother in Cologne - “Would you like to have my appartment for the time?” - sure thing. Here we are in Berlin and although Frankfrut seems big, huge and bussy it never stands a chance in comparison what Berlin is like. On the other hand, the people are more gently and way more relaxed than elsewhere.

The whole city is in a constant change! A good indication for that it the sheer amount of posters and stickers everywhere. The shows they announce are not even over and the next sticker/poster is put over it - like a skin, that is constantly growing and peeling. Everywhere you go there are people; even on saturday all and everyone seems to be out in the streets. Great!

We lingered through the streets drawing huge circles on the map that start and end at Maikes apartment. My feet are permanently damaged from these distances.

At the moment the sun is out and I found Peter Fox’ “Alles Neu” in the stereo. Fits perfect! We are out… damaging my feet for another round… …or should we take the bus this time? Guess we will, although that means that we miss the “Berliner Luft” that really has something about it.

Here are some impressions from the our trip… enjoy.

New Years Mice

Nintendo Wii, life No Comments »

c fireworksHappy New Year!

Mine started very dignified. Becoming a little lazy throughout the winter time - I am more the hibernator guy when the temperature drops below 10°C. Never the less a lot has happend during the last month. My sister got married… yes, my little sister is now married, I got an all brand new Nikon D90 and someone donated me a Wii. ;) So basically all my sparetime was spent on those three things.

Wii is a nice little toy - and I mean toy. The games are hardly for any hardcore gamer but they are great if you have party and a bunch of people with you. The homebrew scene is very active on Wii and there are really great things to be installed and tested. A good source to start your research is http://www.wii-homebrew.com/ and http://www.gbatemp.net/ if you want to watch Movies on your Wii or are looking for some free games. The all new Homebrew Browser seems to be a good choise, although I didn’t have the timt to test it yet.

Jumper… this morning. He had build a tiny nest for the nightYesterday, some friends dropped by for a nice little gaming session. I was about to clean up the room before they arrived and while hovering around in our living room I suddenly noticed a little something in the doorway. Light was dim and at first glance I found it to be a sock and was about to kick it away. Blessedly I turned on the light and identified it as a small little mice. It was completely deranged and just sat there.

It took me some time to figure out where on earth a mice comes from, when living on the second floor. I often heard them running over the roof and right where I found it, there’s a little gap in the roofs casing and so it seem to have fallen of the roof. Some cheese, a slice of apple and some old papers made a good stay for the night and this morning I released Jumper - as he was dubbed when the guys appeared - ran off into our garden. I wonder when the next will fall off the roof.

That’s it for now..

No time…

August had been the most stressful month, this year. There had been two weddings of good friends of ours - one in Austria, the other in Switzerland. We went to both by car and now that I am writing these lines, I feel quite exhausted. Both weddings had been really great, despite being completely different. I will put some pictures on my photoblog soon.

Than there was the Budocan Sommerfest that ended with a bad hangover for everyone, I guess. ;) So that’s basically what happened this month so far.

Still alive…

C64, life No Comments »

…probably one of the most used headlines, when it comes to blogging. Everyone running a blog knows, that it is a bit work to keep it up to date and writing sometimes doesn’t come easy. So what has happened the last month?

First of all, we moved up one level. Nadine are now in our new residence on second and thrid floor… still in the same house. There is still a lot to do in our new home.

Second thing and also a long time running was finishing the budocan.com webpage. Yes! I know… it looks a bit like this page… but hey, it looks better than most of those martial arts pages.

And before I disappear again I give you a little sample, from an old C64 game that kept me and my cousin playing all evening. Do you know which game it is taken from than post a comment. >> sampel.mp3 (160kb)

The shitty part about Jackass

life No Comments »

jackass pissI just returned from a pretty hard weekend at “With Full Force”-Festival in Roitzschjora. Four days packed with earsmashing hardcore, that I am actually not a fan of. Basically I went there, to spend some time with good friends and party along. I rather attend Herzberg-Festival, which is full blown Hippie-come-together, which started off in 1972. Off course I knew that WFF would be different in more than just the musical way, but I was really shocked about the behaviour there.

It occurs to me that it is hip to take a leak against all and everything. People got up from their place, went five steps to their car and pee against it. Fecal humor seems to be on top of the list when it comes to show how masculine you are. I talked to quite alot of people about that and they all said, that this phenomena apperared throughout the last 3 years. Mainly younger visitors seem to work hard on their reputation with such means. We came across that Steve-O seems to be the reason for that.

As much as I apreciate the whole Jackass bunch and all they do, the harder it is to hang out with hundrets of them for a couple of days. You not only had to watch your steps, but keep track of your tent, passways and everything else. Perhaps I am getting old, but this has nothing to do with rock or hardcore music, if you ask me. Despite that, food was horror, so were the service people…. next year I am back for Herzberg.

Looking over my musical taste sholder, I will give those bands a thumb up and a little space on my mp3 player:
- The Bones, Enter Shikari, Children Of Bodom, Sonic Syndicate
